Our Story

Flatpack Global was founded in New Zealand, in 2017, on the back of a remarkably simple idea to ‘fill a need.’  Our goal was to save both time and frustration in the assembly of kitset and flatpack products.

From there, we identified franchising as the ideal model to both grow the business and maintain the high level of interaction and service our Customers were enjoying.  Kitset Assembly Services was painstakingly developed as a ‘man in a van’ operation, offering to ‘save your marriage’ in regions throughout New Zealand.  We quickly grew from a handful of Franchisees, succeeding in our goal and delighting Customers across the country.

Simultaneously, the concept was rolled out in Australia - starting in Canberra ACT, under the Flatpack Assembly Services brand.  Flatpack was chosen for international markets (outside of New Zealand) as a more descriptive and familiar term, given the common use of the wording and awareness with IKEA products.  Expanding steadily across Australian state lines, we have seen our brand solidly advance, with our green vehicles increasingly recognised and flagged down at petrol stations and traffic lights.

In 2018, the United Kingdom was targeted as a stepping-stone into Europe, with the Flatpack Assembly Services business embarking in both England and Scotland.  The appetite for a nationwide assembly service proved just as strong in the Northern Hemisphere, confirming Customers are keen to remove the ‘flatpack aggravation’ from their flatpack purchases.

By this stage, large ‘big-box’ retailers like Homebase, IKEA, Bunnings and Mitre 10 were partnering with us, to extend their additional service offerings, and include assembly.  Other modular products also entered our scope, and the Flatpack Kitchen Services business was born.  Consequently, our diversified stable of brands was created under the Flatpack Global umbrella.
